16 New Flight Routes You Should Know About for Spring

It’s easier than ever to hop on a direct flight to the Caribbean or Delhi, India.

The days are longer, spring travel is revving up, and it seems like there are new flight routes being added every day to inspire our wanderlust. Just this year, JetBlue alone added 16 new flight routes and five cities to its roster. New flights means that it’s easier than ever to get to popular destinations from the U.S.: San Antonio got its first direct flight to the Caribbean last week and Austin now has a budget-friendly route to Tokyo.

Whether you’re looking to book a spring break trip, hoping to take some much-needed PTO, or just want to window shop, here are the most notable new flight routes taking off right now.

U.S. to the Caribbean and Latin America

Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Cap Haitien, Haiti
Haitian airline Sunrise Airways will begin offering flights between Cap Haitien (CAP) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL) on March 17.

San Antonio to San Juan, Puerto Rico
Spirit Airlines will fly San Antonio’s first nonstop service to the Caribbean with flights to San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Phoenix to Mexico City
AeroMéxico will begin operating flights between Mexico City Juarez (MEX) and Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) at the end of March.

New York to Santo Domingo, The Dominican Republic
Budget-friendly Dominican airline Arajet will debut its first route in New York with direct flights from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Las Américas Santo Domingo Airport (SDQ) on June 16.

JetBlue will also begin service between Newark (EWR) and Santo Domingo (SDQ).

New York to San Pedro Sula, Honduras
As part of their expansion, in June, JetBlue will begin service from John F. Kennedy International (JFK) to Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport in San Pedro Sula.

U.S. to Asia and MENA

Newark to Delhi, India
Air India is now operating non-stop flights from Newark to Delhi.

Houston to Tokyo
Budget-friendly Japanese airline Zipair Tokyo began service from Houston George Bush (IAH) to Tokyo Narita (NRT) at the beginning of the month.

Washington D.C. to Amman, Jordan
For those looking to take a trip to Jordan, Royal Jordanian now offers flights between Amman Queen Alia (AMM) and Washington Dulles (IAD).

U.S. to Europe

Washington D.C. to Frankfurt, Germany
Air India has partnered with Lufthansa to expand pre-existing flight routes and now has flights between Washington D.C. and Frankfurt.

Boston to Edinburgh, Scotland
JetBlue will begin service between Boston and Edinburgh in May.

Boston to Madrid
JetBlue will also begin flying from Boston to Madrid.

Domestic U.S. and Canada

Denver to Peoria, Illinois
On March 29, United Airlines will start flying between Denver and Peoria, Illinois.

Washington D.C. to San Diego
Alaska Airlines is expanding its offerings of coast-to-coast flights with service from Washington National (DCA) to San Diego (SAN).

Washington D.C. to San Antonio
Earlier this month, American Airlines began offering service between Washington National (DCA) and San Antonio (SAT).

Washington D.C. to Seattle
Delta now offers service between Washington National (DCA) and Seattle-Tacoma (SEA).

Milwaukee to Austin, Texas
Midwesterners can now fly Southwest Airlines between Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE) and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
